Indonesian corn fritters
On Pinterest we see alot of corn fritter recipes. Indonesian corn fritters are little pancakes with corn and more vegetables. Ketumbar powder and fresh garlic gives this fritter a better flavor! Last year I have followed a workshop Indonesian cooking and this recipe is the best! Since my workshop, we have introduced this fritter to a couple of Asian meals on our menu. When we sell Asian or caribbean soulfood, people love to eat our corn fritters!
In this recipe blog, I will show you the in and outs about Indonesian corn fritters. You can serve corn fritters with Asian rice dishes, fried rice, noodles or serve as a snack. With sweet chili sauce, this vegetarian snack is something to love about.
Most of the time when you see corn fritters, these fritters contain alot of corn and bumpies. For presentation this looks less! As you can see, our Indonesian corn fritters look like a smooth pancake. This is because we blend 50 percent of the sweet corn with a hand blender. You get nice smooth corn pulp and this is easy to mix with other vegetables. When you fry these fritters , you don’t see parts of corn. The other 50 percent goes into the batter of this recipe. Together with garlic, onions, spring onions and leaks.
You might think, what is Ketumbar seasoning? This is the Asian cilantro powder with a twist of lime blended. So this isn’t the same as cilantro powder. You might think, where can I find this? In some European countries, you can find this in local grocery stores. In America and Canada, you might have to make a visit to an Asian or Carribean grocery store. Ketumbar is often used in the Indonesian and other Asian kitchen. When the population moved to the West-Indies, ketumbar find a way in soulfood recipes.
As you can see, Indonesian corn fritters are multifunctional. You can served them as a side order or snack and it is vegetarian. When all ingredients are one smooth batter, it is ready to fry them in a non stick frying pan. Use medium heat to prevent burning and fry each fritter on both sides until golden brown of color. When you serve them warm, these fritters taste the best! When they are on room temperature, pre heat them in the microwave for about 30 seconds. They are ready again to serve. Dipping Indonesian corn fritters with sweet or hot chili sauce is the best dip for this snack.
