Ingredients Italian tomatoe sauce

  • 1 Medium Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 string Spring onion
  • 1 Bay leave
  • 4 Leaves Basil
  • 2 table spoon Fresh parsley
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Sea salt
  • 1 can Pomodoro tomatoes
  • 1 small can Tomatoe paste
  • 2 to 3 tbsp Olive oli (extra virgin)

Italian tomatoe sauce

For our pasta dishes, we are making our own Italian tomatoe sauce. We also have pasta dishes with cream sauce, only that is another recipe.  Unfortunately we don’t have access whole year when it comes to Pomodoro tomatoes. What we do is using organic canned pomodoro tomatoes. With fresh vegetables and herbs, you do get a tomatoe sauce with alot of flavor. Tomatoe paste is what makes this sauce thick.

We do advice you to use fresh herbs for this recipe, because this is giving a better flavor to your sauce. For this recipe we use Fresh basil leaves and bay leave. To give Italian tomatoe sauce a better flavor, we do use Kimangi basil as well. Kimangi is Thai basil with a fresh lemon twist. See our directions below.

Directions

  1. Use a stirfry pan or Dutch oven for this recipe. Pre heat 2 to 3 tbsp of Olive oil (extra virgin) and sauté 1 chopped onion and 2 cloves of minced garlic. (Make sure, it doesn’t burns!)
  2. Add 1 chopped spring onion and 1 small can of tomatoe paste. Stir well!
  3. After a minute you can add 1 can of Pomodoro tomatoes and still well.
  4. To finish this sauce, add 4 leaves of basil, 1 bay leave, fresh grated black pepper and fresh grated salt.
  5. Fill your Pomodoro tomatoes can for 50% with warm water and stir well. Put your tomatoe sauce on low fire for about 15 minutes. Your sauce is ready!  Put the tomatoe sauce in a blender and mix for about 30 seconds. Your Italian tomatoe sauce is ready for pasta dishes.
