Tortilla chipotle salsa

Tortilla chipotle salsa recipe is ready for Cinco de mayo! For this recipe I have used fresh tomatoes, herbes and vegetables. Most dipping salsas contain cilantro. This herb is pretty strong and taste not everywhere the same! That’s why I am advising to use organic cilantro. For this recipe I am using Tabasco chipotle hotsauce, when you don’t have it, you can use Jalapeño peppers as well. Whenever it is Cinco de mayo or want to snack, Chipotle salsa is the perfect dip for tortilla chips.

  1. Cook water in a medium size pan and put 1 lbs tomatoes for about 5 minutes. (Make a little cross with a knife in every tomatoe. This removes the skin easier)
  2. Remove the skin and chop tomatoes . Put them in a bowl. Chop 1 sweet medium onion and 1 red onion. Mix this with the chopped tomatoes!
  3. Mince 3 cloves or garlic and chop about 20 cilantro leaves. Add these two ingredients with tomatoes.
  4. Squeeze 1 lime and mix the juice with tomatoes.
  5. Use 1 tsp of fresh grated sea salt, 2 tsp of Tabasco chipotle hotsauce and 1 tsp of granulated sugar. Mix all these ingredients. You can use a food processor for this. Use about 6 to 8 pulses only! Chipotle dip shouldn’t have a fine structure. You still need to see diced tomatoes.
  6. Store tortilla salsa in a container and keep it in the refrigerator.
